There may have been a sinister logic behind the timing of Harold Shipman's suicide, a forensic psychologist has told a new Daily Mail podcast.
On the latest episode of Psychology of a Serial Killer, Dr Andrew Johns - who gave evidence at the Shipman Inquiry - charts the murderous GP's final days, from his transfer to a high-security prison to his surprise death by hanging.
The doctor, who worked in Hyde, Greater Manchester, is suspected of murdering 215-250 patients between 1975 and 1998 using lethal doses of diamorphine - medical-grade heroin.
On January 31, 2000, Shipman was convicted of 15 counts of murder and one of forgery and sentenced to life in prison.
