A father of three who ‘lived life to the full’ plunged to his death from a notorious knife-edge ridge in Snowdonia, an inquest heard.
Thomas Smith, 36, fell from Crib Goch, a perilous route to the summit of Mount Snowdon, known in Welsh as Yr Wyddfa, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
At the opening of an inquest in Caernarfon, the provisional cause of death was given as multiple injuries due to a fall from a height.
There have been seven walking deaths in Snowdonia national park, otherwise known as Eyri, this year so far.
Coroner Sarah Riley said Mr Smith, a plasterer from Bolton, Greater Manchester, was located by search and rescue teams ‘but a medic on the rescue helicopter confirmed he had passed away at the scene’.
