Donald Trump allegedly told an associate that he loves gay people because they have lined his pockets by hosting the most expensive weddings at Mar-a-Lago.

The president said: 'I love the gays. They pay the most for the weddings,' according to an unnamed friend who relayed the comment to the New York Times.

According to the NYT article, Trump's comment came just before 2020 while he was gearing up to becoming a presidential candidate the first time around.

The 79-year-old also has a history of embracing LGBT culture, including by using YMCA, a song he referred to as 'the gay national anthem' in his political rallies.

The Trump associate who spoke with the NYT added that the president allowed gay people to join his Mar-a-Lago resort long before other clubs in Palm Beach, Florida.
