Holidaymakers have been evacuated and roads have been sealed off as a fire rages through the North Yorkshire Moors.
Locals have been able to see smoke for miles, engulfing their homes and villages while emergency services and farmers have been working together to tackle the blaze in Langdale.
Smoke has spread along the horizon between the seaside towns of Scarborough and Whitby, which have been cut off from one another.
Motorists trying to get between the two were earlier advised to turn back unless their journey was necessary.
Choking fumes even penetrated inside cars even with the windows closed, creeping in through air conditioning systems.
