An elderly sex offender has been killed in a 'brutal and sustained' attack outside his home.
Sean Small, 84, was discovered near the Newcastle property in County Down, Northern Ireland, late on Sunday night.
Police are now carrying out forensic examinations and have sealed off Mr Small's house as well as another building.
The victim was last seen alive on August 19 and officers received a report at around 1.30pm on August 24 that the body of a man in his 80s had been discovered.
Mr Small, who had recently been released from prison after serving a sentence for sex offences, was pronounced dead at the scene.
