Police have launched an urgent hunt for a 6ft man after a woman was 'sexually assaulted' in an alleyway.

Officers are investigating a serious report of violence in Gillingham following the encounter at 9.25pm yesterday.

It is alleged a man pulled the victim into an alleyway as she was walking in Saunders Street, near the junction with St George's Road, before sexually assaulting her.

The suspect, who is reported to have been in possession of a knife, was disturbed by a dog and then fled the scene.

He is described as being black, in his 50s, more than 6ft tall, with black hair that was short at the side and curlier on top.
