Aug. 26 (UPI) -- A lawsuit by President Donald Trump's Department of Justice against all 15 federal judges in immigration cases in Maryland was thrown out by another federal judge Tuesday.
The administration sued all 15 federal district court judges in Maryland on June 24 over a standing order preventing the government from deporting immigrants who are challenging their removal.
The lawsuit was an unprecedented move by the Trump administration and an escalation of its attack on the judicial system and judges who rule against his immigration crackdown.
U.S. District Judge Thomas Cullen, who normally presides in Virginia, heard the case. He said the government lacked standing -- or the legal right to sue. Cullen was appointed to the bench by Trump.
