Police made a record number of arrests at Notting Hill Carnival this year, detaining 528 people over the course of two days.

Scotland Yard said there were 200 arrests on Sunday and 328 on Monday, up from 349 last year and the highest number of arrests on record.

But officers dealt with ‘far fewer incidents of serious violence than in recent years’ at the two-day street party in West London, despite arrests rising 51 per cent, according to the Met Police.

The force hailed facial recognition cameras as instrumental in driving down violent crime at this year’s carnival.

There were two stabbings at this year’s event, but neither resulted in serious injury, compared to two murders and eight stabbings in 2024.
