All Fox content may be removed from YouTube TV if the two sides cannot strike a new contract this week.
Google, YouTube TV's parent company, announced Monday, Aug. 25 that its contract with Fox is nearly expired, and if the two companies cannot create a new agreement by 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Aug. 27, Fox channels and saved content would become unavailable on YouTube TV.
"Fox is asking for payments that are far higher than what partners with comparable content offerings receive," Google wrote in a blog post. "Our priority is to reach a deal that reflects the value of their content and is fair for both sides without passing on additional costs to our subscribers."
But Fox claims otherwise.
"Fox is proposing a fair, comprehensive deal to continue our relationship with YouTube TV," a new Fox-managed website called Keep Fox states. "Google is attempting to use its market power to pressure Fox to agree to unfavorable and one-sided terms, prioritizing their own interests over a fair agreement for its customers."
