A US judge ordered the Utah state legislature to redraw their Congressional maps in a ruling on Monday, concluding that the Republican-led state had failed to follow procedures meant to prevent the map-drawing process from being slanted in favour of one party.

The decision comes as both parties angle for advantage in the upcoming midterm election, with Trump demanding that Republican-led states to redraw their maps to bolster their prospects and Democrats threatening to respond with similar moves of their own if those plans move forward.
