Sir Keir Starmer has shared photos of the first migrants to be detained under his 'one in one out' deal with President Macron - as more than 650 arrived on Bank Holiday Monday alone.

The Prime Minister wrote 'if you come to this country illegally, you will face detention and return' alongside pictures showing a handful of young men being directed by Border Force officers.

Other images depicted migrants going through screening interviews and inputting their fingerprints in a scanner.

Those selected for removal will be held in Home Office detention facilities rather than being sent to live in taxpayer-funded asylum hotels before being removed 'in the coming weeks'.

Sir Keir's post quickly came in for heavy criticism, with Reform UK's Rupert Lowe branding it 'pathetic'.
