Former Tory Veterans' Minister Johnny Mercer is suing the Ministry of Defence over hearing loss he says he sustained during his time serving in the Armed Forces.
The former MP, 44, has said his claim is 'progressing nicely' after he was refused compensation by the MoD's own Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS).
Mr Mercer, who now wears a hearing aid, has now lodged a common law compensation bid through a claims management firm which claims to achieve an average payout of £71,000 for hearing loss.
He said in a post on X today that his case was 'progressing nicely'. He shared the update alongside a photograph of himself undergoing an audiometry exam, a type of specialist hearing test.
The Veterans Minister is among thousands lodging claims against the MoD. Last year, it admitted responsibility for the hearing loss suffered by veterans.
