A mother has told of 'the worst 30 seconds of her life' as she searched for her daughter, seven, in her burning home - after her son, 12, bravely alerted the family.

Jennifer Drew, 41, was with young Nicholas, twins Elizabeth and Eleanor, and her mother Carol Salter on Wednesday night when the horrifying blaze broke out.

Their home in the town of Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, caught fire at around 9pm after what is currently suspected to be an electrical fault.

The teacher said Nicholas and Ms Salter had escaped while she grabbed the closest twin, which happened to be Eleanor, soon returning for Elizabeth.

But she told the Daily Mail of the nightmarish moment she ran back upstairs only to not be able to find the young girl, who along with her sister is 'highly autistic'.
