The US president denounced what he said seemed like a “Purge or Revolution” taking place in South Korea ahead of a noon meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung at the White House.

“WHAT IS GOING ON IN SOUTH KOREA? Seems like a Purge or Revolution. We can’t have that and do business there. I am seeing the new President today at the White House. Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!” Trump wrote on his social media platform.

It was not immediately clear what developments Trump was referencing, but it may have to do with recent actions to hold those involved in an aborted coup attempt by the former president Yoon Suk Yeol to account. Trump has frequently intervened on behalf of right-wing allies facing legal prosecution in countries such as Brazil and Israel.
