A tycoon's plans for multi-million pound luxury Sandbanks apartments is facing huge public backlash due to his migrant hotel set in a crime-ridden seaside town.
John Butterworth's Chine Hotel in Boscombe, Bournemouth, was built by his late father and subsequently converted into one of the south coast's finest, attracting stars such as Dame Vera Lynn and Laurel & Hardy in its heyday.
Just a few years ago, the successful entrepreneur declared in a magazine interview that its demise would 'break his heart'.
However, in 2015, he was forced to close the site to the public, with, much to locals' dismay, the hotel now used as a site to house migrants.
The move is said to have led to a rise in local crime, including assaults, drug taking and anti-social behavior, and caused property prices to drop.
