A motorist was charged more than £1,400 for a single day of parking at a train station, with an investigation launched by the rail company into the pricey ticket.
The 'truly shocking' cost was handed to a train passenger who had paid for a one-day stay in the station car park at Watford Junction in mid-July.
The individual, who wishes to remain anonymous, had paid via chip and pin on a company credit card and had been expecting the total cost to come to £10.
But unbeknown to the motorist, they had been charged 140 times that price.
Having left the car park blissfully unaware of the extortionate cost, it was only when the passenger's employer spotted the unusually high charge on the company accounts that the issue was flagged.
