Agondola capsized Sunday morning in Venice, causing the gondolier and tourists on board to take an unexpected dip.
The accident likely stemmed from a sudden movement by passengers—many taking advantage of their rides to take selfies or videos with their cell phones—which knocked the traditional rowing boat off balance.
Fortunately, the incident occurred in an internal canal in the lagoon city, without any risk to those involved, who had to grab onto moored boats or the grates of some of the windows of buildings at water level to get back to shore.
The video, naturally, quickly went viral on social media.
A similar incident occurred in May on the Grand Canal, just a few meters from the Rialto Bridge.
