Two married couples have died after a British car crashed in Germany.
The fatal accident happened just after midnight on Saturday morning in a grouping of trees near Highway L3229 in Kassel, near central Germany's Hesse.
Despite rescue efforts from German emergency services, the 32-year-old male driver, a 31-year-old female passenger, a 32-year-old female passenger, and a 30-year-old female passenger all died at the scene.
The car, which local media reported had a British licence plate, appears to have veered off the road and crashed into trees nearly 100ft away.
Emergency services were alerted by one of the victims' phones' automatic alert, which sent an ambulance, fire engines and police vehicles to the scene.
