Mr. Menendez will remain in prison with his brother, Erik, who received the same decision on Thursday.

Lyle Menendez was denied parole on Friday, one day after his brother, Erik, was handed the same fate by a different panel of California parole commissioners.
The decisions close off a path to freedom for the brothers, more than three decades after they murdered their parents inside the family’s home in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Similar to its decision with Erik, the board said Lyle could try for parole again in three years. It is still possible for the brothers to seek clemency from Gov. Gavin Newsom of California. They could also continue their efforts to get a judge to reduce their convictions or grant them a new trial.
