But now Scots actress Karen Gillan has taken a role closer to home in a remake of the classic fantasy film Highlander.
The Inverness-born actress said she can’t wait to play an ‘actual Highlander’ in the reboot of the 1980s film.
The 37-year-old Hollywood star will play Heather, the wife of lead character Connor MacLeod, who is being played by Superman actor Henry Cavill.
Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista and Marisa Abela will also star in the film which is due to begin shooting in Scotland later this year.
