The UK Border Force seized more than 18,000 illegal weight loss jabs and drugs in just a year and a half, new data reveals.
Criminals were caught trying to import the likes of Wegovy and Mounjaro in ‘large-scale’ smuggling operations.
Some had attempted to hide the drugs on their body to supply a ‘thriving’ black market, with those intercepted being fake or unregulated.
Experts fear more patents will be tempted to try dangerous counterfeits when pharmaceutical firm Eli Lilly almost triples the wholesale price of Mounjaro next month.
The Home Office said 18,316 weight loss products were seized at UK borders between January 2024 and June 2025.
