Aug. 22 (UPI) -- The Carolina Panthers signed right tackle Taylor Moton to a two-year, $44 million contract extension, a source familiar with the agreement told UPI on Friday.

Moton's contract, which runs through 2027, includes $40 million guaranteed. The Panthers confirmed the agreement, but did not disclose financial terms.

Moton, 31, joined the Panthers in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-5, 325-pound offensive lineman appeared in 129 games, including 113 starts over his first eight seasons.

The Panthers signed Moton to a four-year, $71.2 million extension in 2021 and restructured that pact in 2023 and 2024. He was entering the final year of that deal.

Pro Football Focus gave Moton the 18th-best offensive rating among offensive tackles who were in for at least 50% of the maximum snaps played at the position last season. He received the 17th-best pass-block rating among qualifying players.
