Two tourists have been hospitalised after a family of Israelis were attacked by guests while on holiday at a Center Parcs in the Netherlands.

The assault was carried out on the family of five at the Center Parcs De Kempervennen on Thursday, in the southern village of Westerhoven.

The tourists left the resort early following the incident and two sought medical treatment at a hospital in Eindhoven, according to the Israeli embassy in The Hague.

The case is being handled by the Dutch police and one person has been detained, however it is understood that there are more suspects who are believed to be involved.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry condemned the incident and called on the Dutch government to 'come to its senses and act resolutely to prevent attacks on Israelis in its territory, to locate the criminals, and to bring them to justice'.
