A father's worst nightmare came true when he found a man who was renting a room in his home lying on top of his seven-year-old daughter with his pants around his ankles. Daniel D'Angelo, 53 - a registered sex offender who did not disclose his status to the homeowner - was arrested and charged on August 17 with lewd conduct and failure to register as a sexual offender, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. An arrest report obtained by WFTX said the father of the alleged victim found D'Angelo shirtless with his jeans around his ankles, lying on top of the girl in her bedroom.The girl's father confronted D'Angelo, and an altercation between the two broke out. The father took photos of the horrifying scene to show the police as evidence. The photos allegedly depicted D'Angelo pulling up his jeans and leaving the girl's room. The girl told cops that she was sleeping in her bed and woke up to D'Angelo on top of her without his shirt. She said that he was touching her leg and put his finger in her ear before her father intervened. Investigators found D'Angelo's shirt in the girl's bed, but he denied that the photos were of him and claimed he was set up. The suspect was renting a room from the girl's family and had moved into the home just a few weeks before the horrifying ordeal. Before moving into the home, which is located in Port Charlotte, Florida, about an hour north of Fort Myers, D'Angelo was living with a woman named Robin Hart. Hart told local CW affiliate, WINK News, that she was afraid of D'Angelo when they were roommates. 'I was afraid of him because he [kept] banging on my door and banging on my door all the time, and I kept saying, Go away, go away. Go away. Leave me alone,' she told the outlet. D'Angelo's former landlord, Kevin, told WINK that he would get so drunk that 'he didn't know what he was doing.' 'He could barely walk. He just did things that normal people actually never do,' the landlord added. D'Angelo is in jail on a second-degree felony charge of lewd conduct and a third-degree felony charge of failing to register as a sex offender. The girl's father and the owner of the home told police that D'Angelo didn't notify them that he was a sex offender. D'Angelo was given a $150,000 bond for lewd conduct and a $100,000 bond for failing to register as a sex offender.
