Germany forward could be absent for extended period
Injury leaves Viktor Gyökeres as only fit striker at club
Arsenal are assessing a knee injury suffered by Kai Havertz and could attempt to bring in a replacement if the Germany forward faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Havertz, who came on as a substitute in Arsenal’s win at Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, did not take part in an open training session at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday morning. The 26-year-old is understood to have picked up the injury during his appearance at Old Trafford and it is understood that Arsenal are concerned that he could be absent for an extended period, even if the early indications are that it is not extremely serious.
