Meta has censored photos of female nude statues by famed Italian sculptor Jago inspired by Michelangelo's David, the Ciociara-born artist told ANSA Wednesday.
Mark Zuckerberg's company sent the artist, who has millions of social media followers, a warning about the presence of nude images in photos and videos of his latest work, "The David," which is a female version of Michelangelo's iconic sculpture.
The exposed breasts didn't sit well with Meta's algorithm, which has thus decided to limit the distribution not only of Jago's content, but also of his account itself, which is currently not visible to those who aren't already followers of the artist.
"Censorship in the age of social media.
This will be the tenth time something like this has happened," the artist from the Ciociaria between Rome and Naples explained to ANSA.
