A fight between two students at a high school in Arizona on Tuesday morning ended in a stabbing that left one of them dead and the other injured and in custody, officials said.

Chief Matthew Giordano of the Phoenix Police Department said at a news conference late Tuesday afternoon that a school safety officer had quickly detained one of the students involved. Cmdr. David Saflar of the department said that the suspect had been taken into custody, and that there was no further danger to the community.
