Mark Hamill wanted to uproot everything and leave America after Donald Trump’s reelection last fall.
The “Star Wars” icon and staunch Trump critic opened up about his plan in an interview with The Times of London published on Saturday, revealing how he considered the expat life before his wife, Marilou York, shrewdly convinced him against it.
After Hamill proposed relocating from Southern California to London or Ireland, his partner of five decades let him sit on the decision before weighing in herself.
“She’s very clever,” Hamill recalled. “She didn’t respond right away, but a week later, she said, ‘I’m surprised you would allow him to force you out of your own country.’ That son of a bitch, I thought. I’m not leaving.”
While he decided to stay put, the man behind Luke Skywalker was still unsparing in his criticism for the president.
