The Commissionerate of Food Safety has seized over 17,000 litres of spurious and sub-standard coconut oil in 1,014 raids conducted across the State in the last one month.
Food safety officials have collected 469 samples of coconut oil for testing and action initiated. Notices have been issued to 25 coconut oil manufacturing/trading institutions. Legal measures have also been initiated against coconut oil manufacturers selling fake brands such as Kera Soorya, Kera Haritham and Kuttanadan Kera, with fake Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licences.
