Food and Civil Supplies Minister K.H. Muniyappa said that the department would commence the exercise of weeding out ineligible families having Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards soon after the end of the monsoon session of the Karnataka legislature.
Responding to a question from BJP member Prathap Simha Naik and Congress member Yathindra Siddaramaiah, the Minister told the Legislative Council that about 15 lakh families had been identified to be ineligible to receive BPL cards in the past, and action would be initiated to delete these families from the BPL list.
