Calling the IDF 'the most moral army in the world' normalizes its immoral actions | Opinion

Countless times I have heard the claim that the IDF is "the most moral army in the world." I have never made such a claim myself. Recently, I have even come across statements that the State of Israel is the most moral country in the world, and that the Jewish people are the most moral people in the world. I have never considered using those either. All of these claims are flimsy slogans, but also dangerous ones. They should be abandoned. Each of them warrants its own discussion. Here, I want to focus specifically on the claim about the IDF.
