An 11-year-old girl has died after an incident in the water at a Cornish beauty spot.
Emergency services were called to Wacker Quay on the River Lynher in Antony near Torpoint at about 6pm yesterday following concerns for a person in the water.
Devon and Cornwall Police sfficers said the girl, from South Devon, was recovered and given emergency treatment, but she was confirmed dead at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, Coastguard teams and helicopters were involved in the search – and police confirmed the death was not being treated as suspicious.
A police spokesperson said today: 'Emergency services were called at around 6pm on Saturday, August 16 to Wacker Quay at Antony, near Torpoint, following concerns for a person in the water. A child was sadly confirmed deceased at the scene.
