The BJP has expressed concern over the recent busting of a drug manufacturing unit in Mysuru, and demanded that the case be probed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, BJP State OBC Morcha leader Raghu said that Mysuru, known for Dasara, was becoming infamous for drugs, especially after the raid on the narcotics manufacturing unit by the Maharashtra police recently.

He said that although the unit was located on the Outer Ring Road in plain sight, the Mysuru police was oblivious of its existence, and that this is a pointer to the involvement of influential persons.

Mr. Raghu claimed that if the Mumbai police had not raided the unit and busted the racket, the illegal drug manufacturing would have continued unabated. “We do not know if there are more such units elsewhere in the State,” he added.

The raid in Mysuru has sent shockwaves in the city and the State and there are serious apprehensions in college and school campuses, Mr. Raghu said.
