An inter-State property offender, who was arrested by Rajupalem police on August 13 (Wednesday), escaped from Proddatur sub-jail on Saturday. According to the police, Mohammed Rafi has been on remand in Proddatur sub-jail for the past three days. He has more than 25 cases against him in various districts of the State.
While committing a robbery in broad daylight at Tanguturu village in Rajupalem mandal, he was caught by the villagers, severely beaten up and later handed over to the police. Rajupalem police arrested him on August 13 in a theft case and sent him to remand. On August 16 (Saturday) 6.30 a.m. during tea break, he escaped from the sub-jail by scaling a 12-feet compound wall.
