Three passengers were killed and 25 others injured after two private buses collided with each other near Allagadda on the national highway in Nandyal district in the early hours of Friday (August 15). According to police, the buses were proceeding towards Hyderabad from Tirupati.
An investigation showed that the bus in the front suddenly slowed down when it was overtaking another vehicle. The bus coming from behind thus rammed into the rear of the other bus. The three persons died instantly in the impact. They were identified as Battula Venkata Sai (22) from Rajamahendravaram, K. Raju (25) from Anakapalli and Ananta Gautam (23) from Hyderabad.
A police team under Allagadda DSP K. Pramod shifted the injured to hospitals in Allagadda, Nandyal and Kurnool in ambulances. The condition of the injured passengers is stable.
The police removed the two buses from the highway and restored the traffic. The Allagadda Rural police registered a case.
