“Jimmy Kimmel Live” guest host Nicole Byer shared a “totally unsurprising sign of the times” on Thursday as she highlighted a recent survey that found just 33% of Americans trust the federal government.
“The study was conducted by The Institute of Our President is a 34-time Convicted Felon,” quipped Byer in a jab at Donald Trump.
The comedian then turned to Abraham Lincoln’s famous description of the government being “of the people, by the people, for the people.”
“See? OK, that’s the problem right there. Have you met the people? We suck,” Byer joked.
She went on to pinpoint why Americans have “trust issues” with their political leaders.
