The water level of the Yamuna which was above the ‘warning mark’ of 204.5 metres in the early hours of Thursday gradually receded below it during the day, according to Central Water Commission (CWC) data.

“About 65,000 cusecs of water was released from the Hathnikund Barrage (upstream of Delhi) around 3 p.m. on Thursday but it fell to 61, 736 cusecs by 7 p.m. It takes about 36 hours for the water from Hathnikund to reach Delhi depending on various conditions, so there might be an increase in the water level tomorrow,” a Delhi government official said. However, there is no official forecast, he added.
