The Supreme Court on Thursday (August 14, 2025) cancelled the bail granted by Karnataka High Court to Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and six others in the Renukaswamy murder case while noting that “whosoever he may be, howsoever high, he is not above the rule of law”.
A Bench of Justices J.B. Pardiwala and R. Mahadevan, in a judgment ordered the immediate surrender of the actor and directed the State authorities to take him into custody.

Justice Pardiwala warned the State that if any photograph or visual proof came out showing the actor misusing his influence in any way inside the prison, the authorities would have the court to reckon with.
