France, Germany and the United Kingdom have informed the United Nations that they are ready to reimpose sanctions on Iran if it does not resume negotiations with the international community on its nuclear program, according to a report in the Financial Times.

Last month the three European nations made it clear to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian that, if negotiations with the U.S. are not resumed and significant progress is not made by the end of August, they will turn to the Security Council with a request to activate the snapback mechanism, which allows for the renewal of international sanctions that were removed following the signing of the 2015 agreement.
