A 62-year-old woman was fatally knocked down by a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus while she was crossing the road in front of the Secretariat here on Tuesday.
The deceased, identified as Geetha of Peyad, was attempting to cross the road with her husband Pradeep after disembarking from the same bus. While the couple were crossing the road to go to the General Hospital side, the bus moved forward and ran over Geetha.
Despite immediate efforts by the police to rush her to the hospital, Geetha succumbed to her injuries.
According to the police, the driver moved the bus forward without noticing that the couple were in front of the bus.
