House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) on Monday called former President Bill Clinton a “prime suspect” in the Jeffrey Epstein case. (Watch the video below.)
Comer’s use of “prime suspect” ― often a person law enforcement believes has committed the crime being investigated ― could raise eyebrows given its heavily freighted meaning.
Clinton reportedly has never been accused of wrongdoing by any of the victims of Epstein, the now-dead sex offender who had a large circle of celebrity friends, including President Donald Trump. Clinton has previously said through a representative that he did not know about Epstein’s crimes.
But Comer appeared to have no problem tossing out the term that if applied to Trump would prompt a crapstorm.
Comer last week issued deposition subpoenas to Bill and Hillary Clinton and others, including former FBI Directors James Comey and Robert Mueller, in connection with the case
