Heavy downpour in delta region for the past few days has caused concern among farmers, with their agriculture produce getting drenched at direct purchase centres (DPCs) and sprouting in some places.
Tamil Nadu Cauvery Farmers Protection Association secretary Sundara Vimalanathan said the summer paddy crop harvest was in full swing in delta districts and the produce was being brought to the direct purchase centres for measuring. However, the procurement was slow and the movement of procured paddy to godowns had also slowed down.
