Former Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh I.Y.R. Krishna Rao on Sunday exhorted the students and youth to actively promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment). The initiative is a nationwide movement aimed at inspiring individuals to adopt sustainable lifestyles, conserve energy, and contribute to India’s climate goals.
Addressing a programme organised by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in Hyderabad on Sunday (August 10, 2025), Mr. Rao said that the objective of Mission LiFE is to promote mindful consumption and a circular economy and encourage citizens to move away from the “use - and - throw” model.
He commended BEE’s leadership in rolling out innovative energy efficiency schemes across the nation, and noted that Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) and Telangana were making significant contributions to the implementation of the National Energy Conservation Movement with the support of BEE and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).
Speaking on Mission LiFE, BEE Media Advisor (South) A. Chandra Sekhar Reddy highlighted Visakhapatnam’s potential to become a model sustainable city and said that the initiative is being intensified in Vijayawada, Tirupati, Kakinada, Rajahmundry, and Kurnool and other cities in the country.
