A cow, calf, dog and a mongoose were electrocuted to death by overhead electric cables that were lying low near Vilangudi on Friday.
According to police, cattle farmer P. Pitchai of Vilangudi had gone in search of the cow that had been left in the farm of one Veluchamy.
Pitchai’s neighbour had left his calf also for grazing in the same farm.
After it rained heavily with strong wind on Friday night and the animals had not returned home, Pitchai had gone in search of them.
He found that the both the cow and the calf, along with a dog and mongoose, were found lying dead after coming in contact with the electric cable lying low up to the ground.
