She shares ‘recovery vlog’ after having surgery on elbow following first-round loss at Wimbledon
China’s No 1 tennis player Zheng Qinwen has shared a first glimpse of her road to recovery following the elbow surgery that ruled her out of this month’s US Open.
The Olympic champion on Friday shared a video on social media that she said was “a late update” of her first week of recovery.
Zheng had been battling an injury to her right elbow throughout the season and, after crashing out of Wimbledon in the first round for a third straight year, decided to take a break from the tour and undergo arthroscopic surgery.
The 22-year-old’s “recovery vlog” showed her engaging in various forms of rehabilitation, including lying prostrate on her hospital bed while lifting a tennis racquet, stretching in hospital corridors and weightlifting in the gym.
