Arab sources speaking to the Associated Press say mediators from Egypt and Qatar are formulating a new framework for a deal that would include the release of all hostages – alive and deceased alike – in exchange for ending the war in Gaza and Israeli forces withdrawing from the strip.
The reported deal is still being negotiated, according to two Arab sources familiar with the talks.
Mediation efforts involving Egypt and Qatar have long played a central role in Israeli-Palestinian conflicts, particularly in attempts to secure cease-fires and hostage releases during past escalations. Previous agreements brokered by these countries have often included prisoner swaps and temporary truces, though lasting resolutions have remained elusive.
The latest talks come amid mounting international pressure to end the hostilities and address the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
