Launching a counter-attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his allegations of vote theft, the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday maintained that the BJP did not have any role in revision of voters’ list for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka, as it was the officials led by Deputy Commissioners, posted by the Congress government, who looked into the revision exercise.

“Deputy Commissioners, who work as District Election Officers, are the final authority for revising the voters’ list in their jurisdiction. They had been posted by the Congress government as the Lok Sabha elections were held a year after the Congress came to power in the State,” argued Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly R. Ashok.

Electoral rolls revision an attempt to steal vote and future, says Rahul Gandhi in Patna

He argued that the ruling Congress was in the know about every step of revision exercise as it had appointed Booth Level Agents (BLAs) for all the booths, who had been given official copies of the revised draft voters’ list. These agents had also been kept in the loop on deletion and addition of voters’ list, he said.
