Hamas issued a statement Friday in response to the Israeli security cabinet approving plans to take over Gaza several hours earlier.
"The approval of the Zionist cabinet's plans to occupy Gaza and evacuate its residents is a new war crime," the group said.
"The occupation's decision clearly explains the reason for its sudden withdrawal from the last round of negotiations."
Hamas said it has "delivered everything necessary for the success of the ceasefire efforts, and we will spare no effort in taking steps that will pave the way for reaching an agreement."
The movement also criticized the terminology used by the cabinet, saying that Israel's "wordplay and replacement of the term 'occupation' with 'control' are nothing more than a transparent attempt to evade its legal responsibility for the consequences of its barbaric crime against civilians."
