The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Chennai, is all set to add more healthcare facilities for the welfare of its insured persons.

The construction of two 100-bed hospitals in Sriperumbudur and Thoothukudi is in progress, and the ESIC is set to establish four more hospitals in various parts of Tamil Nadu.

At present, there are 11 ESIC hospitals in the State. Three run by the ESIC – ESIC Medical College and Hospital at K.K. Nagar in Chennai, and two 100-bed ESIC Hospitals at Tirunelveli and Tiruppur.

The remaining eight ESIC facilities are run by the State government – Salem, Hosur, Tiruchi, and Vellore (50 beds each); Sivakasi (100), Madurai (200), Coimbatore (506), and Ayanavaram (616).

Apart from these facilities, there are 241 ESIC dispensaries in the State, officials said.
