A man died after he jumped off the metro viaduct to the road near the Vadakkekota metro station near Thripunithura on Thursday (August 7) around 2.30 p.m.
The deceased was identified as Nisar, 32, of Tirurangadi in Malappuram district.
The metro authorities had switched off the power supply to the station and the stretch between Kadavanthra and Thripunithura as the man, who jumped onto the track, started moving along the line.
“The man, who was standing outside the viaduct, jumped down, avoiding the net spread by the Fire and Rescue Services personnel below and fell on the road,” said a rescuer.
Nisar, who was later admitted to a private hospital, died in the evening. The metro services on the stretch were disrupted for 40 minutes following the incident.
